Notes & Directions:		This multi-faceted spot is named after a Black Oak Arkansas song for a place where you can get anything you want.... It lies about 100 yards below Calamity Rock Rapid on the Narrows section of the Cheat- 10 miles upstream of the Canyon. It is frequented throughout the summer because the medium low levels are the best. There are many charcs available- most of them developed in recent years. The favorite charcs are available at the medium levels and are based off the eddy in the middle of the river(attainers left of the slab). The easiest charc is to go backcut and travel. You can also go backcut and stall and hang around 5-6 deep in the Ballroom at the top of a boil pile in the eddy. At this point you can spin much faster without traveling. The best realmhogs often leave this arena by dropping deeper and then traveling. You can also go very high in the eddy and drop hard and stall right next to the rock, spinning slowly (you might bump the rock). You can also get traveling and Ballroom charcs going regular and/or dropping early. The traveling charcs tend to be initiated in the back of the second baby wave at the top of the eddyline. But you can also initiate regular on the attainers right side of the first wave- Carls Charc- named after Carl Gittings who pioneered the righty regular charcs here. The river left charcs tend to be simpler- but yield good results at the lower levels. The easiest charcs are basically a lefty regular where you drop steep and fast and come back for support from the eddy- traveling slowly spinning. The other lefty is where you drop about 3 from the shore rock- tapping into a subtle seam generated from the rocks pillow and drop deep and cross the slab to get support from the river right eddy. There you stall until the mystery plays out. A final regular charc is to drop hard and travel to the boil piles on river left down below and exploit them for all youre worth. Backcut charcs are also available but tend to stall pretty much- although you can get your head wet pretty well. If you are driving up from Albright- head towards Rowlesburg and after you see some easy class 3 rapids close to the road slow down and look for a huge rock in the river as high as the road (the road is bending right here). The next pull off to the left is the parking spot (like a 20 car spot). There is a trail down at the upstream and downstream ends of the parking lot. The downstream trail is the easiest but often has locals partyin it up- so dont leave shoes on the shore here. The Alley is at the top of the eddy here (duh). CFS at Albright is the way to go.
