Notes | Changed Max level from 4300 to 5000. 4700 cfs, had an excellent session. 5-10 second rides, no misses. The only limitation here at higher flows is the speed of the eddy, and how much the relative features shift. All was stable today, but if you were getting repeat- 3 second rides, you would be rapid- firing mysteries as the eddy highwayed you back to the interface. Wide range of CHARCS available, best rides were the ones where I could seperate myself as far away from the rock adjacent to me as possible, detaching myself from the eddy line. If you CHARC in closer to the rock, you may tap it on your way down. This is all fine and you are set for a good mystery, but youll likely interact with a boil 10 meters downstream along the eddy line that will add some turbulence and force you back to the surface, albeit non- violently. Surf the microwave with an 11 oclock angle and plug into one of the available seams and enjoy the green views of the vast realm. |

Notes | Sampled this in Summer of 24. Easy lefty charcs into gentle 10+ second rides in a downriver- cut Shred. Very user- friendly, one of my most enjoyable squirt sessions of my life thus far. Took some time to understand and identify the seam to tap into, but the power is certainly there. The seam is wavering several feet side to side with the surges of the current coming around the rocks. As opposed to surfing the microwave into the current and connecting with the seam in the center, I would surf the microwave in place, and every twenty seconds or so, the seam would waver and intersect the wave under your boat. When the seam passes under your boat like a lightning strike, take one strong stroke into the seam, wing down, and youre locked. Best, most effortless entrances to a mystery ever, the seam comes to you. As you spin, there is a second rock downstream with a strong pillow on it- as you pass it, it gets a little turbulent (around 7 seconds into your ride). There are two outcomes here- it either interrupts your zen and sends you to the surface, or you pass by the turbulence for a double suck and ride around the rock for rides 15- 20 seconds. Certainly looking forward to returning here. Because of the boulders upstream, rafts sneak up fast so be cognizant of your surroundings to avoid being mauled by a family of 8. |

Notes | Smooth leftys, good spot for tadpoles. Nice sandy beach next to spot to camp on. 5-10 second rides. Changed gage info to reflect that spot is IN between Halls and Mellow levels. Also: During summer there are free shuttles that leave from Fayette Station at 5:00 pm. Ace goes on Wednesdays, Class 6 goes on sundays. Load your boat up on the trailer then hop on the bus, ride up to Cunard and run the gorge. Actually would be good manners to bring $5 for the bus driver, they volunteer to drive all us nutbags up there. It\s a nice way to mix it up when halls and mellow aren\t cooperating. |
